Hey everyone! My name is Nikki Riddy and I am a 24 year old kindness seeker who is very lucky call Vancouver Island home! By week I work as an Education Assistant in Kindergarten class and by weekends you can usually find me adventuring outside with a camera in hand.
How do you try to bring more kindness into the world?
I think the little things in life are so important and way too often forgotten! We can all spread kindness in our day to day lives. We don’t have to be rich, we don’t have to be successful and we don’t have to be popular, because no act of kindness is too small. The ways I try to do so is by giving a friendly smile to a stranger as I walk by, holding open the door for someone, offering my seat up on the bus, recycling and composting and picking up trash on my hikes.
Why do you think the world needs kindness?
The reasons I think the world needs more kindness are more reasons than I am capable of writing about. But I always think about the beginning of time, and how the source for a lack of kindness in this world has been created by the earth we stand on instead of the air we breath. The same air that connects us all. The same air in which we all rely on for our survival. The same air that makes us feel alive. I think that by spreading kindness, we are one step closer to realizing that we are all more alike than we are different. That we will begin to feel more compassion and empathy, not only for one another, but for the planet and all the creatures who also call this beautiful place home.
